PNW Hydrography Framework
Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Hydrography Framework
The PNW Hydrography Framework (PNWHF) working with its stakeholders in Oregon and Washington is a cooperative effort between a wide variety of federal, state, local, and private organizations. The Partnership was formed to define, implement, and steward hydrography framework datasets for the states of Oregon and Washington. Initially, these collaborative efforts have focused on the development of high-resolution hydrography and hydrologic boundary datasets, culminating in the development of the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD).
The primary partners in the PNWHF are the Oregon State Office of the Bureau of Land Management, Region 6 of the U.S. Forest Service, and the States of Oregon and Washington. The PNWHF specifically collaborates with the Geographic Information Councils and Framework Implementation Groups in Oregon and Washington as well as the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Natural Resources Conservation Service at the state and national level.
This website provides access and links to hydrography framework datasets for Oregon and Washington. A comprehensive stewardship strategy is currently being developed for both the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) within the context of the PNWHF Partnership. Click on the Hydrography Data Layer or Hydrologic Unit Boundary buttons for more information on these data development efforts. This site also provides access to other pertinent documentation and tools as well as a status of current development activities.
