PNW Hydrography Framework
Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Hydrography Framework
The PNW Hydrography Framework (PNWHF) is a cooperative effort between several federal, state, local, and private organizations in the Pacific Northwest. It was formed to define, implement, and maintain high-resolution Hydrography and Hydrologic Unit Boundary (HU) datasets for the states of Oregon and Washington. The Partners in the PNW Hydrography Framework are the Oregon State Office of the Bureau of Land Management, Region 6 of the U.S. Forest Service, and the States of Oregon and Washington.
The PNWHF collaborates with the Geographic Information Councils and Framework Implementation Groups in Oregon and Washington as well as the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Natural Resources Conservation Service at the national level.
Goals of Partnership
The ultimate goal of the PNW Hydrography Framework is to establish a common "core" set of surface water information for the states of Oregon and Washington which all organizations and the public can use to meet their business needs. The Hydrography Framework provides one-stop shopping for regionally-integrated, high-resolution hydrography and HU boundary datasets that are co-managed by the PNWHF partner organizations for the benefit of all.
Getting Started
This website provides access to Hydrography Framework datasets for both analytical and maintenance purposes although downloads for maintenance are currently disabled. Click on the Hydrography Data Layer or Hydrologic Unit Boundary buttons to get started. The site also provides access to pertinent documentation and tools as well as a status of current redesign activities.
